Promoting outstanding retired athletes to become physical education teachers is of great social value to realizing the development goals of school sports in the new era, improving the level of school PE teachers and improving the employment of athletes. However, at present, outstanding retired athletes still have some practical difficulties to become a PE teacher, such as imperfect supporting policies, mismatched teaching ability and inappropriate teaching projects. Based on the above difficulties, this paper proposes specific relief strategies from the four aspects of policy guarantee, project adaptation, cultural education and school-based training, in order to provide guidance for promoting the implementation of the integration of physical education and cultural education policy, promoting the smooth teaching of outstanding retired athletes and improving the development level of school PE.
