(Department of Physical Education,Tsinghua University,Beijing 100084,China) Abstract: Based The study analyses the modern sports from the perspective of transnational history to make up for the drawback of traditional sports history. The significance of transnational history of sports aim to deny "Eurocentrism" and "civilization exceptionalism". By exploring the methods and practices of transnational history of sports, it is shown that the study of sports events development, sports network construction and local sports translation from a transnational perspective can supplement the drawback of previous studies on the history of nation-state perspective. In view of the existing theoretical discussion on the global history of sports in the academic world, this paper compares the similarities and differences between the transnational history of sports and the global history of sports. It is concluded that Chinese academic community is fully capable of constructing the theoretical transnational history of sports and having the academic discourse through the comprehensive interpretation of the concept, connotation and value of the transnational history of sports, which also meet the demand of cultivating the historical view with global vision for China's stepping into the world stage.
