Abstract: The formation of ZHANG Zhi-dong's childhood physical education thought has a profound background of the times and a wide range of theoretical sources. Advocating the childhood education aims of physical, intellectual and moral education laid equal status, taking games and gymnastics as the main childhood sports activities, hiding the intention of serving as soldiers at the beginning of the elementary cultivation, paying attention to the guidance of parents with child sports activities, opposing girls' feet bound and putting forward the idea of strong mothers giving birth to healthy babies, and allocating childhood sports venues and equipment constitute the ideological core of ZHANG Zhi-dong's childhood physical education. Zhang Zhi-dong's child physical education thought opened the first stage of childhood physical education in China, promoted the germination of military national education thoughts, advocated for girls to give up foot and propelled the development of female sports.
