Abstract: Fitness objective has always been an important content in the school physical education objective system of Japan, and such a guiding conception as that school physical education promotes fitness improvement has been changed several times in Japan. The field and concept of “body formation movement” newly established in Learning Guidance Outline in 1998 represent the latest guiding conception of physical education. By understanding and analyz-ing the objectives, contents and changes of “body formation movement”, the authors concluded that education concepts embodied in the newly revised Learning Guidance Outline, such as valuing actual experience as well as mind and body relationship, valuing the cultivation of cognition and comprehension abilities, and valuing the systemization of objec-tives, contents and methods, are significant for being referred to by school physical education in China.
