| （Department of Physical Education，Huizhou University，Huizhou 516007，China) Abstract: In the commodity economy era, material becomes a medium of communication between people, and be-tween people and society; excessive “materialization” tends to cause the loss of the Olympic spirit; the peace pursu-ing consciousness and education orientation of the Olympic Games are its survival foundation. Weakening material reward moderately will enable people to gradually walk out of the mist of “materials visible but people invisible” and get rid of and eliminate the “gold medal or nothing theory”, and make competitive sports more “conscious”, thus realize the sustainable development of sports in China.
