| （1.School of Physical Education，Yunnan Normal University，Kunming 650092，China；2.School of Physical Education，Liaoning Normal University，Dalian 116029，China） Abstract: As an important constituent part of world popular culture today, competitive sports has been fused with a lot of nationalistic colors, becoming an important stage for national emotion expression and catharsis. Various countries would usually focus on developing competitive sports in order to enhance national emotion and cohesion; in this sense, today’s prosperity of competitive sports and the assisting function of nationalism are no doubt highly correlative; certainly, irra-tional national emotion would do serious harm to sports and nations, even national secessionism would secede a country by means of such a carrier as sports; therefore, we should face up to nationalistic thoughts in sports, correctly guide them, so that they constantly boost the benign development of competitive sports within a certain extent.
