| （School of Physical Education，South China Normal University，Guangzhou 510006，China） Abstract: The humanistic ideals of modern Olympic Games are to strive to expand the active functions of competi-tion, and to realize the education value of sports on the youth by basing the carrier on competition, but competition had some malpractices while it was boosting the development of sports. The Youth Olympic Games set such a value orientation as “exceeding competition” in terms of guiding ideology, launched the reform of boycotting malpractices in competition in terms of system, and successfully implement the reform in the first Youth Olympic Games in terms of game execution. The value of the Youth Olympic Games rests with that in such three aspects as establishment conception, system reform and game hosting measure, it blends ancient Olympic spirits into the trend of modern so-cial development in a better way, so that competitive games are developed concurrently with mass sports and youth education. This is the fundamental difference between the Youth Olympic Games and the Olympic Games and other major international games, also brings us such a humanistic inspiration as “sharing sports”.
