| （School of Physical Education，South China University of Technology，Guangzhou 510641，China） Abstract: “basketball baby” has an extremely strong gender rhetorical meaning and symbol designation relation. The rhetorical meaning and designation relation of “basketball baby” can be roughly divided into the symbol mean-ing of body consumption and the symbol meaning of collective spree. Studying the gender rhetoric and symbol des-ignation relation of “basketball baby” in depth has a very important realistic meaning for us to study the symbolized meaning of women’s social roles in sports competition and entertainment activities, and to take care of the talking and wishing of women’s social roles.
