| （Computer School，South China Normal University，Guangzhou 510631，China） Abstract: Volunteers have played an important role in the Beijing Olympic Games. The active participation and selfless contribution of college students have shown the spiritual demeanor of contemporary college students. At the time the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games is coming, the enthusiasm of all walks of life in Guangdong for volunteer services is getting unprecedentedly higher. There is an intrinsic relationship of harmony and unification between the Asian Games spirit and the volunteer spirit. Institutes of higher learning should seize the opportunity for volunteer services for the Asian Games, nurture college student’s volunteer spirit, promote the organic combination of the Olympic and Asian Games spirits and the volunteer spirit with the ideological and political education for college students, and open up a new way for the ideological and political education for college students.
