| （1.Department of Physical Education，Yangtze Normal University，Chongqing 408100，China；2.School of Physical Education，Chongqing Technology and Business University，Chongqing 400067，China） Abstract: The authors analyzed the reality of the separation between major and occupation in the employment of graduates majoring in physical education, and considered that such a sign of separation has become prominent, and affected various aspects in talent cultivation. The authors pointed out that factors promoting the separation between major and occupation include rigid promotion of popularization of higher education, which results in high intensity competition in the talent market and relative satiation of talents, irrational layout of physical education disciplines, escalation of blind competition, repeated major setup, and major structural contradictions. The authors worked out the following ways for talent cultivation: pay attention to the reality; gain an insight into the trend of development of the higher physical education talent market; make plans scientifically; guide competition actively; avoid blind com-petition; correct cultivation objectives and specifications; enhance soft strength for employment competition; estab-lish a new common education and specialized education combined platform.
