| （1.School of Physical Education，South China Normal University，Guangzhou 510631，China；2.Department of Physical Education，Kashgar Teachers College，Kashgar 844000，China） Abstract: Theoretical study of Minority National Games in the past often fell into the wrong idea of how to get on the tract of “modernized” development, advocating remodeling traditional national sports according to western sports modes. In the theory of relativity of culture, it is considered that it is especially valuable to clarify Minority National Games and traditional national sports. In the overall view of anthropology, the study of Minority National Games is placed in the relatively macroscopic background of traditional Chinese national sports, and isolated analy-sis is refused. In the methodology of transcultural comparison, it is advocated to establish the conception of “oth-ers”, and to compare Minority National Games with other forms of traditional national sports comprehensively, namely, horizontally and vertically.
