Ancient Greek sport and awaking of body consciousness XIE Guang-qian

(Depatment of Physical Education, Southern Youngtze University, Wuxi 214122,China) Abstract: When people interpret ancient Greek sport, they often value its meaning in promoting peace. Actually, another profound connotation of ancient Greek sport lies in that it has awaken the body consciousness of human beings and let human bodies display their charm and acquire the new value for existence. Neglecting this is not only the incomplete recognition of ancient Greek sport but also unfair to sport. In modern times, it will bring us helpful enlightenment to understand the relation between sport and awaking of body consciousness.
