Abstract: Chen He-qin was a famous children educator in the history of modern education in China. He devoted his entire life to exploring children education, established scientific children education theories, and revealed children’s physiological characteristics such as game loving. He drew the following conclusions: Game playing is the life of children; the goal of education should aim at children’s physical, moral and intellectual development; curriculum setup should base its center on activities; game playing should be highlighted in teaching methods and teaching or-ganization; there is a certain relation between game content/form and children’s age. He also pointed out several is-sues to be noticed when children are playing games. Chen He-qin valued game playing not only ideologically, but also physically in his practice of education, making an important contribution to the development of the modern children education undertaking of China. His view of children’s game playing has important referential value for implementing the Summary of Kindergarten Education Guidance (for trial implementation) and for boosting physi-cal education curriculum reform and capacity education in China.
